Innovative solutions for children and young people:

REHAB 2025 focuses on participation and quality of life

Children and young people with disabilities in particular need aids early on in order to develop optimally. Whether for therapy, school, home or leisure: REHAB 2025 will present customized aids, smart solutions and creative approaches for children with physical or neurological disabilities from 22 to 24 May 2025 - always with a focus on participation and quality of life.

For the 23rd time, the European Trade Fair for Rehabilitation, Therapy, Care and Inclusion is inviting professionals and private visitors to Karlsruhe: This year, almost 400 exhibitors from 16 countries will be showcasing the latest innovations in rehabilitation and orthopaedic technology, modern therapy approaches and comprehensive care and assistance services on around 30,000 square meters. One of the eleven themed marketplaces is dedicated entirely to the area of children's and youth rehabilitation - this year with around 50 companies, organizations and service providers. A wide range of children's mobility equipment, child standing and mobility aids, child seating and positioning aids, children's care beds and other aids, for example for augmentative and alternative communication, will be presented. Market leaders and manufacturers such as HOGGI, Rehatec, Schuchmann, Sunrise Medical, SORG Rollstuhltechnik and Berollka will be on site, as will specialist medical supply stores and retailers such as Storch and Beller, 3Hmed and rehability, as well as newcomers such as RooWalk Mobility.

In addition to medical aids, the trade fair focuses on people: specialists from medical supply stores, therapy centers and self-help groups provide individual, practical advice at eye level. The focus is always on enabling even the youngest children to participate in all areas of life, with tailor-made solutions, state-of-the-art materials and interdisciplinary cooperation with suppliers, therapists and doctors. The range is complemented by special areas such as the Innovations Centre and an extensive forum program. New here are the special topics “Mobile with a prosthesis” and “Stroke”. Innovation meets daily life: Some of the product highlights for children and young people

At REHAB 2025, visitors can experience what is possible - with modern technology, personal advice and inclusive offers. Some exhibitors have exciting innovations up their sleeves, as Marco Hessler from Wolturnus announces: “With the FrameRunner, children experience mobility at eye level - and the sparkle in their eyes is priceless.” The FrameRunner from Ormesa is more than just a piece of sports equipment - it is a symbol of freedom. Its lightweight frame, individually adjustable supports and stable pneumatic tires make it a favourite companion for therapy, leisure and competition.

The new therapy chairs and seating systems Thessa (Therapeutical Seating System Application) and Mosa from Berollka can be tried out as prototypes for the first time at REHAB. They adapt flexibly to the growth and needs of each child - from a stable sitting position to a “high-low” position for more activity in everyday life. "We are delighted to be able to present our new therapy chair at this year's REHAB. We would like to emphasize our many years of experience in the production of high-quality (children's) aids and strengthen the topic of ‘sitting’ by expanding our portfolio. It is important to us to continue to produce exclusively in Germany, to maintain our regionality and to offer the usual quality and individuality," says Managing Director Jörg Ben-der.

And for those who want to get higher up to eye level: dynamic standing training with the Heidelberg standing device from Rehatec provides new stimuli - sensomotorically and emotionally. The prototype was specifically perfected in medical collaboration with Prof. Dr. Walter Strobl and his team - the revised model will be presented for the first time at this year's REHAB.

The MOTOmed gracile (RECK technology) also brings movement into play - with passive, assistive or active training modes that strengthen arms and legs and are fun to use. They are particularly light and delicate for the needs of children and young people. "REHAB offers us an excellent opportunity to make direct contact with different target groups. At the trade fair, anyone interested can find out about our latest MOTOmed next generation developments and test the various models at the same time," announces Sales Manager Thorsten Banzhaf.

Schuchmann is coming to Karlsruhe with its fundamentally redesigned reclining system “tina.” and presenting its new therapy and work chair “maxi.,” a “superb therapy chair for older children and teenagers with a discreet appearance and appealing design,” according to marketing manager Tanja Grabbe. “Our new car seats 'marie integral' and 'charlie integral' are based on Swandoo's award-winning products and have been further developed by us to meet disability-specific requirements,” Grabbe continues. ”REHAB offers the perfect mix of trade visitors and private visitors. We are delighted to be presenting our aids at the Karlsruhe trade fair, where we can engage in direct dialogue.”

The company HERNIK is also exhibiting a wide range of car seats for children and young people aged six months to 22 years. These include a new multifunctional car seat for young and old, the KIDSFLEX-PRO (available in three sizes), which is also a product premiere. Like all the manufacturer's products, it is approved as an official car seat throughout Europe with its own E-type approval number in accordance with R129.

Active rehabilitation specialist PRO ACTIV Reha-Technik also has a new product for children and young people: the new BUDDY, a robust wheelchair for children and young people with a grow-with-me function.

“REHAB is an important trade fair for us because it gives us as a company the opportunity to get in touch with both users of assisted communication and specialists and to present our comprehensive communication solutions,” says Marcel Porcedda, Tobii Dynavox Regional Manager for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Tobii Dynavox will be showcasing its comprehensive range of communication solutions, including the new iPadOS-based communication device with Touch TD Navio, which has been specially developed for assisted communication. It offers many customization options and is available in three sizes.

25 years of rehaKIND at the REHAB – the trade fair was the birthplace

A quarter of a century ago, the vision for rehaKIND was born at REHAB. Committed manufacturers of pediatric rehabilitation products and the then publisher Dieter Borgmann recognized that children with disabilities were largely ignored in healthcare, as the focus was strongly on the aging society. So in 2000, a handful of medium-sized manufacturers and the publishing house “verlag modernes lernen” founded the International Support Association rehaKIND e.V.. The aim was to form a strong network dedicated to the highly individual needs of children and young people with disabilities. Since then, rehaKIND has been committed to equal opportunities for all children and better provision of assistive devices. On May 23, rehaKIND will celebrate its 25th anniversary at REHAB Karlsruhe with an anniversary party. Members, partners from the fields of medicine and therapy, families, and advisory board members will come together to honor what has been achieved—and to continue the work.

rehaKIND e.V. to its stand in Hall 3 on all three days of the trade fair and to daily presentations in the forum focusing on topics related to rehabilitation for children and young people. These include “Current issues relating to personal budgets and budget assistance,” “People with severe ICP in electric wheelchairs – is that possible?” and “When it really hurts – pain recognition in the context of assistive device provision.”
