Digital freedom rethought: communication that connects

The future can be experienced at REHAB 2025 - especially in the field of electronic and digital communication systems. This is where technology, participation and humanity meet at eye level. Solutions are being developed for people with communication impairments that not only break down barriers, but also open up new paths to independence and enjoyment of life.

Whether smart assistance devices, AI-based voice control or eye control systems: both long-established companies and young start-ups will be presenting digital communication technologies that give people with disabilities real access to the digital world.

Nau-Hau GmbH impresses with the VoiceSurfer XR - a browser that can be placed anywhere in the room thanks to mixed reality. It is operated purely via voice control. For people with severe spinal cord injury, this means hands-free surfing with complete freedom - intuitive, mobile, innovative.

Rehavista from Bremen offers the full range of modern AAC products: from speech computers with eye or tablet control to new software solutions. People with complex impairments in particular - such as those with ALS, MS, autism or after strokes - benefit from these sophisticated and practical technologies. Integrated environment control makes it possible to open doors, control lights or make phone calls again.

With the KONNEX Eye, to signify is presenting a lightweight, compact communication aid with eye control that has been specially designed for the rapid care of patients, for example after a stroke - mobile, efficient and individual.

Tobii Dynavox comes with an extensive portfolio of intuitive communication aids - for touch, eye or alternative control. The matching AAC apps enable individual customization for every need.

DATEurope, the European industry association for digital assistive technologies, is bringing international partners with it.

Christoph Jo Müller from the Executive Board: “As an industry association, we are particularly concerned about creating quality of life and participation with digital assistive technology (DAT). Europe is now the stronghold of manufacturers for DAT. They are particularly good at reflecting different cultures and languages in innovative products. The importance of DAT for individuals and society is increasing significantly as a result of digitalization and is creating new opportunities.”

“Gaming is a great topic. That's why at REHAB, we're also showing at the joint DATEurope stand how inclusive gaming and computer access for everyone is possible with DAT,” Christoph Müller. Photo: Christoph Müller (private)

“Gaming is a great topic. That's why at REHAB, we're also showing at the joint DATEurope stand how inclusive gaming and computer access for everyone is possible with DAT,” continues Müller.

The Finnish company Quha will be presenting a “head mouse” that allows computer control using only head movements and the mouth - a valuable solution for people without hand function.

Abilia from Sweden is presenting the MEMOplanner: a digital calendar that supports cognitively impaired people in their everyday lives - for example with time management, motivation, reminders or structuring. It is recognized as a medical aid (HMV number) and has been proven to reduce stress - both for users and their relatives.

The topic of inclusion in digital worlds of experience is not neglected either: Inclusive Gaming GmbH develops accessible applications and games for blind and visually impaired people. The Leipzig-based start-up combines audio worlds, gamification and digital spaces to create inclusive experiences that can be used by everyone and gives the community space to help shape them.

Just like last time at REHAB aktiv - HE Sports. Stefan Schaaf from Humanelektronik is certain: “Gaming and e-sports are sometimes the only way for people with special challenges to demonstrate their skills and performance, train and improve their resilience in a playful way, due to the various limitations. At Humanelektronik, our HE-Sport department takes on every challenge and develops complex solutions to help people improve their performance in the long term. Of course, we don't forget to have fun.”

What is shown here is not just technology - it is the future you can touch. It's about dignity, self-determination and togetherness. REHAB 2025 makes it possible to experience what technology can achieve when it focuses on people.
